Local SEO in Pakistan: How to Get Your Business Found on Google

How businesses in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and other cities get found on Google: English, Urdu and Roman Urdu searches, Maps listings, Pakistani platforms, reviews, area pages, fast mobile sites and WhatsApp tracking.

Local SEO in Pakistan is the work that puts your business in Google Maps and the local results when people in your city search for what you sell, in English, Urdu or Roman Urdu. It rests on a verified Business Profile, consistent listings on Pakistani platforms, genuine reviews, a fast mobile site and tracking calls and WhatsApp messages.

Google ranks local results the same way everywhere. What changes in Pakistan is the detail: mixed-language searches, addresses built on sectors, blocks and phases, WhatsApp as the main sales channel for many businesses, and platforms such as Zameen, Marham and foodpanda that often matter more than global directories. This guide covers those differences for Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and smaller cities.

Key takeaways

  • Google ranks local businesses on relevance, distance and prominence, and nobody can pay Google for a better map position.
  • Research keywords in English, Urdu script and Roman Urdu using Google’s autocomplete and your own search data, not guesswork.
  • List on the Pakistani platforms your customers use, such as Zameen, Marham, oladoc, PakWheels or foodpanda, with identical details.
  • Ask for reviews on WhatsApp after each sale with a direct link, and reply in the language the customer used.
  • Track calls, direction requests and WhatsApp clicks, because many customers message or call rather than fill in a form.

How does local SEO in Pakistan work?

It works on the same three factors Google uses everywhere: relevance, distance and prominence. Google says there’s no way to request or pay for a better local ranking, so every improvement comes from your profile, your website and your reputation. The table shows what each factor means for a Pakistani business.

FactorWhat Google looks atWhat it means in Pakistan
RelevanceHow well your profile matches the searchComplete categories, services and descriptions, plus a website that uses the words customers type, in English and Roman Urdu
DistanceHow far you are from the searcherAn accurate map pin matters where addresses have no street number; a wrong pin puts you in the wrong sector
ProminenceHow well known you are, including links and reviewsReviews from real customers, listings on Pakistani platforms and mentions from local media and partners

What decides how a business ranks on Google Maps in Pakistan?

If you want to know how to rank a business on Google Maps in Pakistan, start with the parts you control: a verified profile with the right primary category, accurate hours, reviews that keep coming and a website that confirms your details. Distance you can’t change, which is why a shop in Blue Area rarely appears for someone searching from Bahria Town.

How do people in Pakistan search for local businesses?

They search in a mix of English, Roman Urdu and Urdu script, often with an area name attached. One customer types “tailor in G-9”, another “darzi near me” and a third uses Urdu script, and spellings vary: biryani or biriyani, Gulberg or Gulburg. Good local keyword research captures that mix instead of assuming everyone searches in English.

BusinessEnglish searchRoman Urdu or local termUrdu script
Tailortailor in G-9 Islamabaddarzi near meدرزی
Property agentreal estate agent DHA Lahoreproperty dealer DHA phase 6پراپرٹی ڈیلر
Home cleaninghouse cleaning service Karachighar ki safai serviceگھر کی صفائی
Tuitionhome tutor Rawalpindighar pe tuitionہوم ٹیوشن

How to research local keywords in three scripts

  1. Type your service into Google in each form, English, Roman Urdu and Urdu, and note the autocomplete suggestions for your city and areas.
  2. Open your Business Profile’s Performance report and check Searches for the terms people already use to find you.
  3. In Search Console, filter the Performance report by queries containing your city or area names.
  4. Ask your staff what customers actually say on the phone and on WhatsApp; those words belong on your website.

Put the main English term in page titles and headings, then use the Roman Urdu and Urdu terms naturally in body copy, FAQs and service descriptions where customers use them. Don’t build a separate thin page for every spelling; one strong page can cover the variations.

What should your Google Maps listing in Pakistan include?

Your listing needs a verified Business Profile with your signboard name, the right category, an accurate pin, a +92 phone number, hours and your WhatsApp contact. Pakistani addresses, phone formats, category names and verification problems are covered step by step in our guide to creating and verifying a Google Business Profile in Pakistan.

After verification, complete the profile before you promote it:

  • Services: list every service in the words customers use, with a one-line description.
  • Hours: keep them accurate through Ramadan and set special hours for Eid and public holidays.
  • Photos: your signboard, the entrance from the road, the inside and your team, so customers recognize you on arrival.
  • Plus Code: in Google Maps on a computer, click your exact entrance, click the coordinates in the info box, then copy the Plus Code and add it to your contact page and WhatsApp replies. Google says a Plus Code works as a simple digital address and can even identify one particular entrance to a building.

Which Pakistani directories and platforms are worth listing on?

The ones your customers already use to search, compare and book in your industry. Start with the global core of Bing Places, Apple Business and a Facebook Page, then add the Pakistani platforms below. Our guide to local citations explains the global listings and how to audit old ones.

IndustryPlatformWhy it matters
Any business, especially B2B and tradeJamal’s Yellow PagesA national yellow pages directory, online and in print, organized by business category
Doctors, dentists and clinicsMarham, oladocPatients search, compare and book appointments on both
PropertyZameen.com, Graana.comBuyers and tenants browse listings here, and agency profiles carry your contact details
Cars and auto partsPakWheelsUsed to buy and sell cars, bikes and parts, so dealers and parts sellers get found there
Restaurants and home chefsfoodpandaA partner listing brings delivery orders and another consistent record of your details
Pakistani platforms by industry

Use exactly the same business name, address and phone number on every platform, copied from your Business Profile. Register listings with an email address the business owns, not an employee’s personal Gmail, and skip paid packages that promise hundreds of directory submissions. If you’d rather hand this over, our local SEO services in Pakistan include citation audits and cleanup.

How do you get more Google reviews from Pakistani customers?

Send a direct review link on WhatsApp after each sale or job, with one friendly line explaining that a review helps other customers find you. Some customers have never left a Google review, so a link that opens the review box saves them searching for your listing.

  • Put a QR code for your review link at the counter, on invoices and on delivery packaging.
  • Ask every customer the same way; picking only happy customers breaks Google’s review policy.
  • Never pay for reviews, offer discounts in exchange for them or buy review packages. Google removes incentivized and fake reviews, and a pattern of them puts your profile at risk.
  • Accept reviews in any language, and reply in the one the customer used, whether English, Urdu or Roman Urdu.
  • Answer complaints publicly in two or three polite lines, then move the details to a phone call or WhatsApp chat.

Once customers start messaging, the follow-up matters as much as the ranking. Our WhatsApp marketing guide covers what to do with those conversations.

Do you need city pages, area pages or a .pk domain?

You need a page for each city where you have a real branch or genuinely serve customers, and area pages only where you can say something specific about the area. A Lahore caterer might justify pages for DHA and Gulberg if it has served events there and can show them; a page for every town in Punjab with the name swapped in would be thin and risky.

  • City page: the branch address and map, local phone and WhatsApp number, services offered in that city, reviews from local customers and photos of local work.
  • Area page: landmarks and sectors you cover, typical jobs in that area, travel or delivery details and local examples.
  • Service-area businesses: a plumber covering Islamabad and Rawalpindi can list both cities on the profile and build one page for each.

A .pk domain helps if Pakistan is your only market. Google calls country-code domains a strong signal that a site is intended for a particular country, though a ccTLD can only target one country. PKNIC, the official registry, offers .pk along with extensions such as .com.pk and .org.pk. If you also sell abroad, a .com with clear Pakistan pages works too.

How do you make your website fast on Pakistani mobile connections?

Build for a mid-range phone on a patchy mobile connection, because that’s how many of your visitors arrive. Google indexes and ranks the mobile version of your site, so what a phone user sees is what counts.

  • Compress images and serve them in modern formats such as WebP, sized for phone screens.
  • Drop heavy sliders, autoplay videos and plugins you don’t need.
  • Put tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons in the header or a sticky bar, not only on the contact page.
  • Show your address, Plus Code and an embedded map on the contact page.
  • Test key pages in Google’s PageSpeed Insights, and fix what the mobile report flags first.

The same work helps with AI answers. Google says there are no additional requirements or special optimizations needed to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode; the same foundational SEO best practices apply, starting with pages Google can crawl and index.

How do you track calls and WhatsApp clicks?

Use your Business Profile’s Performance report for actions taken on Google, and Google Analytics 4 for actions on your website. The profile report counts calls, direction requests, website clicks and, where chat is enabled, messages.

On your website, GA4’s enhanced measurement records a click event whenever someone follows a link to another domain, including a wa.me WhatsApp link, with the link’s domain and URL as parameters. Turn those clicks into a key event you can count: in GA4, go to Admin, Data display, Events, select Create event, set these conditions, then mark the new event as a key event.

Custom event name: whatsapp_click
Matching conditions:
  event_name equals click
  link_url contains wa.me
  • Tap-to-call links don’t lead to another domain, so they need their own event, usually set up in Google Tag Manager.
  • If your WhatsApp buttons use api.whatsapp.com links rather than wa.me, match that domain in the condition instead.
  • Add UTM parameters to the website link on your Business Profile, so visits from Maps show up separately.
  • Ask new customers on WhatsApp how they found you, and keep a simple tally by source each month.

Frequently asked questions

How much does local SEO cost in Pakistan?

Local SEO costs in Pakistan depend on the number of locations, how competitive your city and industry are, and how much of the work you do yourself. The core tools, including Google Business Profile, Bing Places and most Pakistani directory listings, are free. When comparing agencies, ask for a written proposal listing exactly what’s included each month and what gets reported, rather than comparing prices alone.

Can a home-based business in Pakistan appear on Google Maps?

A home-based business in Pakistan can appear on Google Maps if it meets customers in person, either at the home with proper signage or by traveling to them. A tutor, tailor or technician who visits customers should set up as a service-area business and hide the home address. An online-only store selling through Instagram or a marketplace isn’t eligible for a Business Profile.

Should my Google Business Profile be in Urdu or English?

A Google Business Profile in Pakistan usually works best with the business name exactly as it appears on the signboard, entered once in one script, because Google’s guidelines don’t allow the same name repeated in two scripts. The description and services can use the words customers actually search, and adding common Roman Urdu terms in services and on the website helps match mixed-language searches.

Do Facebook and Instagram help local SEO in Pakistan?

Facebook and Instagram aren’t listed as local ranking factors in Google’s guidance, but they help local SEO in Pakistan indirectly. A Facebook Page with the same name, address and phone number acts as another consistent citation, social profiles give customers another way to check you’re real, and followers are a natural group to ask for Google reviews after a purchase.

How do I choose local SEO services in Pakistan?

Choose local SEO services in Pakistan by asking what will actually be done: profile optimization, citations on named platforms, review systems, city pages and tracking of calls and WhatsApp clicks. Avoid providers that guarantee top-three map rankings, because nobody controls Google’s results, or that sell reviews, which break Google’s policies. Insist that the Business Profile stays in your own Google account, with the agency added as a manager.
