How to Create and Verify a Google Business Profile in Pakistan

A step-by-step 2026 guide for Pakistani businesses: create the profile, write an address Google can find, format +92 numbers, pass video verification, add WhatsApp, and recover from failed verification or suspension.

To create a Google Business Profile in Pakistan, sign in with a Google Account, add your business at business.google.com/add, enter your real business name, primary category, address or service area and a +92 phone number, then complete the verification method Google offers. It costs nothing, and Google usually reviews verification within 5 business days.

Pakistan is on Google’s list of supported countries, and the process is the same as anywhere else. What differs is the detail: addresses built on sectors, blocks and phases rather than street numbers, bilingual signboards, UAN and mobile numbers, WhatsApp as the main sales channel, and home-based businesses that need a service-area setup. This guide covers each one.

Key takeaways

  • Pakistan is on Google’s supported list, and creating, verifying or reinstating a profile is free; never pay anyone who asks for your code.
  • Write the official address from unit to city with the postal code, check the map pin, and add a landmark only when needed.
  • Use one business name in one script: Google prohibits repeating the name in Urdu and English, even if your signboard shows both.
  • In a verification video, show your signboard, surroundings and staff-only access, but never your CNIC, NTN or bank details.
  • If Chat appears on your profile, add a WhatsApp click-to-chat link, and only that, because Google shows text over WhatsApp.

How to create a Google Business Profile in Pakistan, step by step

Check that you qualify, then add or claim the profile and complete the verification method Google offers. Settle your name, address and category before you start, because changing them later can mean verifying again.

Check you’re eligible

Google allows a profile if customers can visit your location or you travel to them. Online-only sellers, such as a store that exists only on Instagram or a marketplace, aren’t eligible. Virtual offices and P.O. box addresses don’t qualify either. A home-based tailor, tutor or technician who visits customers qualifies as a service-area business.

Create or claim the profile

  1. Sign in to a Google Account the business will keep. Avoid an employee’s personal Gmail, because whoever controls that account controls the profile.
  2. Search Google Maps for your business name and city. If a listing exists, select Claim this business → Manage now; if Maps says someone else manages it, request access instead of creating a duplicate.
  3. If there’s no listing, go to business.google.com/add and select Add your business to Google.
  4. Enter the business name exactly as it appears on your signboard, then choose the primary category.
  5. Choose how customers reach you: add your address if they visit, or hide it and list the areas you serve if you go to them.
  6. Add your phone number and website, then pick one of the verification options shown and follow the steps.

How should you write a Pakistani address so Google can find it?

Enter the official address from the smallest unit up: shop, office or house number, floor, building or plaza, street, sector or block, area, city and postal code. Then check the map pin. Many Pakistani addresses have no street number, and Google lets you place the pin yourself when its system can’t find an address.

Location typeExample format
Islamabad sector office (our own address)Street 5, E-11/1, Islamabad 44000
Office in a plazaOffice 12, 2nd Floor, [Plaza name], Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area, Islamabad
Lahore DHAPlot [number], Block [letter], Phase 5, DHA, Lahore
Karachi commercial areaShop [number], [Building name], Block 5, Clifton, Karachi
Market shop in a smaller cityShop [number], [Market name], [Road name], [City]
Address formats that work (examples)
  • Write the sector with its subsector (E-11/1 rather than just E-11) and include the plaza or building name.
  • Put the shop, office or floor number in address line 2 when the form offers one.
  • Add a landmark only where the official address doesn’t pinpoint you, and never in place of the address itself.
  • Look up your five-digit code in the Pakistan Post code directory.
  • Use the same address, word for word, on your website, Facebook page and other listings.

Pakistan note

Running the business from home? Keep your house address off the profile. Google’s guidelines tell service-area businesses to hide the address, and any address you do show publicly needs permanent signage with the business name and customers who actually come there during your hours.

Which name, phone number and category should you use?

Use the name on your signboard in one script, a +92 number that someone at the business answers, and the category from Google’s list that matches what you are, even when the local term differs.

Business name: one name, one script

Google’s guidelines rule out repeating one business name in two scripts or languages, and that applies even when your signboard carries both versions. Choose the version customers use, such as the English name on a bilingual sign, and enter it once. Leave out city names, services and slogans (“Best Tailor Lahore”), and add legal terms like (Pvt.) Ltd. only when that exact wording appears consistently on your signboard, business cards and invoices.

Phone number: the +92 format

Enter numbers in international format, with Pakistan’s +92 code and without the leading zero, the way our own number is written: +92 371 7767407. A mobile number in the pattern 03XX XXXXXXX becomes +92 3XX XXXXXXX, and an Islamabad landline starting 051 becomes +92 51 followed by the rest of the number.

Google wants a number that rings at your location and that the business directly controls, so avoid making a central UAN helpline the main number where you can. If you plan to verify by phone, make sure a person answers, because an automated IVR menu can’t receive Google’s code.

Category: use Google’s word, not the local one

Categories come from Google’s English list, which doesn’t always use Pakistani terms. Search for the category Google uses rather than the word on your signboard:

What you might call itCategories to look for
Beauty parlourBeauty salon, Make-up artist
PhysiotherapistPhysical therapist, Physical therapy clinic
Property dealerReal estate agency, Real estate agent
Mithai shopConfectionery store, Dessert shop
Marquee or shadi hallWedding venue, Banquet hall
Mehndi artistMehndi designer
Solar installerSolar energy company, Solar energy system service
Local terms and the Google categories to search for

Local categories such as Pakistani restaurant, Biryani restaurant, Dhaba and Housing society also exist, so check the list before settling for something generic.

Which verification options will you see in Pakistan?

Google chooses from the same set of methods it uses worldwide: a video recording, a live video call, a phone or text code, email or a postcard. You can’t request a method Google doesn’t show you, and Google recommends video when your business is eligible for it.

  • Video recording: film at the premises where you have a strong mobile data or Wi-Fi signal, because the video has to be captured live and uploaded through the profile; you can’t record offline and upload later.
  • Phone or text: use a number that can receive SMS and that a person answers.
  • Postcard: don’t count on it: Google states that postcard verification isn’t offered to every business. If you do use it, don’t edit your name, address or category while the code is in the post.
  • Paid “verification services”: skip them. Google doesn’t charge for any part of the process and never asks for your code or a one-time password.

For a full walkthrough of each method, and of re-verification requests, see our step-by-step verification guide.

How do you pass video verification from a shop, office or home?

Record one continuous clip of at least 30 seconds that shows where you are, that the business exists and that you manage it. What that looks like depends on your setup:

SetupLocationProof the business existsProof you manage it
Shop in a market or plazaThe market’s entrance sign, neighboring shop boards and the road nameYour signboard showing the exact profile name, plus stock and the counterOpening the cash drawer, storeroom or point-of-sale system
Office in a sector or plazaThe street sign, the building’s name board and nearby shopsYour name on the office door or reception wall, and branded materialsUsing your keys on the office door and showing staff-only areas
Home-based service businessStreet and house-number signs and landmarks in your immediate neighborhoodYour tools, equipment, business cards or a branded vehicleDoing part of a job, or an invoice, permit or utility bill in the business name
What to film for common Pakistani business setups

Watch out

Never show your CNIC, NTN, bank account numbers or other ID details on camera. Google’s video rules ban sensitive information such as ID, tax and bank account numbers, along with private details and other people’s faces. In a busy bazaar, film when it’s quiet, or keep the camera on signs and shelves rather than shoppers.

If the video is rejected, open the profile on your phone and tap Review issues. Google lists what was missing, such as the business name not being visible on the storefront or no nearby area shown, and your new video must include everything from the first one plus the missing parts.

How do you add WhatsApp to your Business Profile?

Where Google offers the Chat option, go to Edit profile → Contact, select the edit icon next to Chat, choose WhatsApp, paste your click-to-chat link and save. Google says chat options are available only in select regions, so if you don’t see the option, it isn’t offered for your profile yet.

Build the link from your full international number with no plus sign, leading zero, brackets or dashes, as WhatsApp’s help center specifies. A number in the pattern 03XX XXXXXXX becomes https://wa.me/923XXXXXXXXX.

  • Add only WhatsApp if that’s where you sell: when both WhatsApp and text are set, Google shows customers the text option alone.
  • Branches with separate profiles can share the same WhatsApp link.
  • Chat activity appears in your profile’s performance metrics, so you can see whether the button gets used.
  • Be wary of messages claiming to be Google. Google may send automated calls, texts or WhatsApp messages to confirm your details, but it never asks for payment, card details or passwords.

Once the chats start coming in, our WhatsApp marketing guide for small businesses covers what to do next.

What if verification fails or your profile is suspended?

A failed verification means Google needs better evidence, so fix what it flags and try again. A suspension means Google believes the profile breaks its guidelines: correct the problem, then appeal with documents.

Fix the cause first, such as a keyword-stuffed name or a virtual office address, then submit an appeal through Google’s appeals tool. Google lists official business registration, a business license, tax certificates and business utility bills as evidence that strengthens an appeal, and the name and address on them should match the profile.

Google’s evidence typePakistani examples
Official business registrationSECP certificate of incorporation, or a registration of firms certificate for a partnership
Business licenseA trade or professional license from the relevant local or provincial authority
Tax certificateFBR NTN certificate or sales tax registration
Utility billAn electricity bill from your distribution company, or a PTCL phone or internet bill, in the business name
Pakistani documents that match Google’s evidence types (examples)
  • Once you open the evidence form, submit it within 60 minutes or it won’t be attached to your appeal.
  • Allow up to 5 business days for a decision, and don’t file repeat appeals for the same issue in the meantime.
  • Don’t create a new profile while the appeal is under review.
  • If your bills are in a landlord’s name, use another document that shows the business name and address.

What should you complete after verification?

Finish the profile before you promote it, starting with the fields customers check first.

  • Hours: set regular hours, then special hours for Eid and public holidays. Google allows current seasonal hours as your regular hours, so switch to Ramadan timings for the month and back again after Eid.
  • Description and services: explain what you do and where in plain language, and list your services so customers can see them on Maps.
  • Photos: your signboard, entrance, interior, team and work, taken in good light.
  • Reviews: send your review link on WhatsApp after each sale or job, and reply to every review.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create a Google Business Profile for an online store in Pakistan?

Not for an online-only store. Google says e-commerce businesses that don’t offer any in-person service aren’t eligible for a Business Profile. If customers can shop or collect orders at a physical location during your stated hours, that location can have a storefront profile, and if your own staff visit or deliver to customers, you may qualify as a service-area business.

Do I need a registered company to verify a Google Business Profile in Pakistan?

Google doesn’t list company registration as a requirement for creating or verifying a Business Profile; verification is about proving the business exists and that you manage it. Registration documents matter if the profile is ever suspended, because Google lists official business registration, licenses and tax certificates as evidence that strengthens an appeal.

Why is my business pin in the wrong place on Google Maps?

A pin lands in the wrong place when Google can’t match your address, which can happen with plaza, market and sector addresses. Open your Business Profile, select Edit profile, then Location, then the edit icon next to Business location, and choose Adjust to drag the pin onto your entrance. Save the change and allow time for Google to review it.

Should I use my personal mobile number on my Business Profile?

Use a number the business controls rather than a personal one, because the profile phone number is public and Google requires it to be under the business’s direct control. A dedicated business SIM is a practical choice. You can hide the number in your Business Profile settings, but customers then can’t call you from the profile.

Can someone else claim my business on Google Maps?

Anyone can try to claim an unverified listing, which is why Google warns that unclaimed locations are more vulnerable to hijacking. Claim and verify every location you operate. If someone else has already verified your business, request ownership through business.google.com/add instead of creating a second profile, since duplicate profiles are against Google’s policies.
